Construction process of flexible stone

I. Construction conditions

1. Door (window) openings, scaffolding holes, balconies should be completed, and all embedded parts such as downpipes, various inlet pipes and air conditioner brackets should be installed in advance.
2. The ambient temperature during installation should not be lower than 5℃. Construction is not recommended in abnormal weather conditions.

II. Process Flow

Substrate treatment and acceptance → Trial layout and marking → Adhesion → Cleaning → Inspection and acceptance
1. Substrate Treatment
Before construction, the substrate, embedded parts, connection nodes, and waterproof layer must be inspected. After leveling, all bonding substrates must be flat, free of dust, oil stains, and protruding sand particles. The moisture content of the substrate should not exceed 10%. When using old finishes as the bonding substrate, there should be no hollowing, cracking, oil stains, or peeling.
2. Trial Layout and Marking
1) Place the flexible stone on a flat surface, verify the quantity and specifications to avoid omissions. Take them in sequence during the actual tiling process.
2) Arrange the blocks according to the design requirements and construction templates. Determine the joint width and spacing, and perform a trial layout. Before large-area construction, confirm the drawings and prepare samples.
3) Using the baseline of the drawing as a standard, draw vertical and horizontal lines and horizontal elevation control lines for each layer, and mark them.
3. Adhesion
1)Adhesive for flexible stone
Non-cement-based adhesive: When bonding flexible stone, it is suitable to proceed from top to bottom. Use a roller to apply the adhesive to the wall surface and the back of the flexible stone. During bonding, the flexible stone should be pressed and flattened against the substrate to ensure no warping or air bubbles. Forbidden for the adhesive to contaminate the surface of the flexible stone.
Cement-based adhesive mortar: Use a notched trowel to apply the adhesive mortar to the wall surface, with a width suitable for the width of a single flexible stone. Proceed from top to bottom during bonding. Press the flexible stone against the substrate, and use a self-made wooden board to flatten it. If adhesive mortar is squeezed out around the edges, use a jointing tool of the same width to evenly press the mortar into the joints. Forbidden for the adhesive mortar to contaminate the surface of the flexible stone.
2) Before the adhesive sets, the position and joint width of the flexible stone can be adjusted to ensure proper alignment and compaction. Moving the already bonded flexible stone is strictly prohibited after initial setting and before complete solidification.
3) Corner installation: When installing the flexible stone, leave 2mm on each side of the corner line for installation, so that the reserved area can be used for grouting.
4. Joint Sealing
Clean the joints of the flexible stone with a clean cotton cloth and remove residues inside the joints.
Apply masking tape on both sides of the flexible stone joints, ensuring it is straight along the joint edges, firmly adhered, and properly aligned.
When applying sealant, follow the sequence of horizontal first, then vertical. After filling the joints completely with sealant, use a scraper to remove excess sealant. For horizontal joints, push unidirectionally from the cross joints; for vertical joints, proceed continuously from top to bottom. Immediately peel off the masking tape after scraping. Ensure the sealant surface is flat, smooth, bubble-free, free of impurities, and aesthetically consistent, with width and thickness meeting design requirements.
If sealant application is carried out the next day, cut off the tail of the previously applied sealant to ensure tight and smooth bonding between the two applications.
5. Inspection & Acceptance
The surface shall be flat, clean, and uniformly colored;
Internal and external corners shall be vertical, smooth, and free of obvious seams;
Spacing joints shall be straight and uniformly wide.
